This dynamic black and white lithograph was created by Joan Miro during the summer of 1975. This lithograph, entitled,Homage to Joan Prats, was part of a series of 11 prints created by a group of 8 artists to honor the life of their friend, Joan Prats. Included in the portfolio were works by such revered artists as Calder, Chillida, Tapies and Miro.
This work of art, published by Fundacio and printed by La Poligrafa, is one of only 10 Hors Commerce (Not For Sale in French), numbered in Roman numerals, that was printed in black and white. 75 additional prints were also published in color, but lack the dramatic impact of this large black and white, spectacular lithograph.
The works of art were created in tribute to to their good friend, Joan Prats, a Barcelona hat-maker whose shop was a gathering place for artists and critics until his death in 1970.
